Order, Please!

Today I did some cleaning up under my desk. I bought two slats and attached them under my desk. This way I was able to move all my equipment (switch, server, DSL and phone stuff, 200m of cables, …) from under my table on the floor to be directly under my table on the two attached slats. The space for the cables and the equipment
is not very large but somehow it did all fit. So now I almost have no more cables on the floor and I hope that it doesn’t get to hot under my table now that all that stuff has to be so close together. Let’s hope for the best…

I also had enough time to close the open bugs for erwin and a release will happen in the next days. Probably next year. I have reimplemented the searchbar as seen in Firefox for my editor.

Today I booked a room in Sölden from 2005-01-01 to 2005-01-05 for Jennifer and me so that we can go snowboarding for 5 days. There is enough snow and I am sure it will be great.

Porting To Gtkhtml3

Today I ported erwin successfully to use gtkhtml3 instead of gtkhtml2. It was rather easy and maybe this will lead to a new release in the next weeks. I have still some open bugs which will have to be closed before release… But that shouldn’t be a problem.

Incredible

In the morning Jennifer and I were shopping. We bought many things so that we don’t have to go shopping before Christmas again. After that I cooked us some lunch and Jennifer worked the whole afternoon preparing stuff for school next week. I was catching up on all the mailing lists I didn’t read during the week.

In the evening we had dinner in Esslingen in a bar called Juleps. They have great burgers and good cocktails. We met Alex and went to the movies watching “The Incredibles”. We all had a lot of fun watching this movie.

Back At My Old Workplace

Today I was the whole day at my previous workplace to talk them through the software I have written there before I changed to IBM. It was the deal that I could leave before my contract finishes if I can come back a few times if they need my help. So I was there and had a lot of fun and after a few months I still know my code and showed them how everything works and how it is tied together. Long but good day.

In the evening we went to Heiko having dinner, drinking some wine and having lot of fun.

All Work And…

This was a extremely long day. I was from 0700 until 1930 at the office and this is definitely much too long. The reason for staying this long was that the whole team met after work. So I left the house in the morning at about 0630 and came back around 2245.

Zphoto

I am working on RPMs for zphoto and its dependency ming. Seems to work pretty good. I have submitted the RPMs to bugzilla.fedora.us to get them QA’d.

The bug numbers are #2346 and #2347.

Success

Today was a good day. At work we were rather successful and my music-player-server-keyboard-thing at home is finally working.

At around 1900 Heiko, Jennifer and I did go to the Christmas Market in Esslingen. We ate and drank something and walked back home again.

Snowboarding In Lech/Zürs

Today Jochen and I were in Zürs to go skiing. Jochen was skiing and I was snowboarding. Only half of the lifts were open and even less of the slopes but the tickets were fortunately only half of the usual price. It was much too warm, but it was still very good. I just love to be in the mountains on my snowboard.

Now It Is Certain

I have received a letter from Brunel University which makes me certain that I have finally finished my master studies.

Dear Mr Reber,

I am pleased to be able to inform you that the Vice-Chancellor, on
behalf of Senate, has formally agreed that you be awarded the

                   Master of Science
       Distributed Computing Systems Engineering

Finally The Results

I have finally received the results for my master dissertation. I have a B. Better would have been better, but the most important part is that I finally know that I have finished my master studies. Yeah!!!
