LinuxBIOS

The second day from the LinuxBIOS Symposium is coming to an end. Currently we are sitting in the lobby of our hotel. There are 9 guys, 11 notebooks some additional hardware and lots of cables. This is probably one of the strangest meetings which happened in this lobby:

There are a lot more pictures taken (with much better quality) and they can be found at the LinuxBIOS wiki.

Today were again some really interesting talks:

  • Someone from AMD talking about their LinuxBIOS strategy
  • More information about OLPC hardware and firmware development
  • A demo of a in-car system (Via Epia) using LinuxBIOS to boot up and ready for full operation in less than 18 seconds

LinuxBIOS

So I am for three days (until the third of October) in Hamburg to be at the
LinuxBIOS Symposium 2006. Today is the the
first day and it already is pretty interesting. I have not had much contact with
LinuxBIOS until now but I think I will look more into it in the future.
There are a lot of interesting people here and besides what is on the agenda
I have heard much about the OLPC hardware and firmware and that OLPC is also
using LinuxBIOS. The whole OLPC hardware is really interesting.

And, as everyone else, everybody hates (at least nobody likes) ACPI.
