Here you can see a capacitor whose capacity can be changed by the user.

As you can see, he only has to turn at the capacitor and increase the area where the plates are above each other.

If you increase the area, then the capacity will also increase. And vice versa !

If you decrease the area, then the capacity will also decrease and will get less than before.
